I have the 4x16 on another .308 and they perform extremely well .

My problem with, based on actual use of several Vortex scopes, is that some of the reticles they use have hash marks that are too fine when viewed against dark daylight backgrounds. Unless using against a light/while background they disappear.
While illumination is nice it shouldn't be required in normal daylight conditions.
Thus, the only Vortex scope I use have thicker reticles.
