Sig Sauer P320 issues.

Yawn ….

Yawn

My P-320 that I have had for years has never gone off without me.
I've talked to many at Sig Chat and zero people with P-320 had any issues and they in turn did not know of anyone else who has a P-320 has had any issues.

The bottom line: Best to blame someone else for their mistake.

Here some facts to my statement on discharges of a firearm:

“An Associated Press investigation, released Monday, documented 1,422 unintentional discharges, some involving fatal shootings, since 2012 at 258 law enforcement agencies.”

I saw the video from this article on YouTube before I noticed it here. The surveillance video seems to show that the patrol officer's weapon fired uncommanded while still in the holster.

Take note:
The female detective had a bag constantly swinging against her right side where the firearm was located.
Based on the footage, you cannot rule out a foreign item impacting the trigger.
No clue on holster. Carry technique or other, but she was not walking hands free or had no object that could come in contact with a holster. That bag looked to be in constant contact with the holstered side.

Possible? Sure. Cause of discharge ? Maybe
Equal opportunity to be a culprit as it would not to be a culprit

I was initially skepticle, but after reading the entire article, I was not willing to discount the report. Luckily I don't have any Sig Sauers so no worries for me - unless the guy next to me at the range has one.....
Millions of P320s on the market yet you’ve never seen one go off at the range. Don’t know anyone who has. Don’t know a man who knows a man whose brother’s sister-in-law’s best friend knows someone who had a P320 go off. If this was a real problem it would be statistically impossible that we the great unwashed shooting public haven’t come across this anywhere but in articles about ambulance chasers and itchy-fingered LEOs. Glock leg was a real thing but Glock is considered one of the most reliable, if not THE most reliable pistol on the market. Nothing to see here Fake News.

Agree,
If any law enforcement office has accidental discharge, what do you think they will say?
Decisions, decision decision Mmmmm either looks stupid in front of all or blame the gun.
Been saying that forever. And not to offend your gender, but this is primarily happening with female LEOs. That's not to say I think females are in any way inferior to male LEOs, but rather female LEOs for some reason often wind up far less adequately trained than male LEOs. Although there is no shortage of woefully undertrained male LEOs either. Or maybe it's because they just throw the damn thing in their purse.

I do find it amusing the initial reaction to this by LE agencies was to blame the manufacturer. 18 months and you can be a cop. Most of them shoot once a year at quals and many of those barely pass. I have shot with cops on the range who were there doing their quals. Afterwards we would shoot with them and way too many of them, eh, underperformed.

My primary handgun instructor is a Police captain and Police Marksmanship Instructor and also a 20 year USMC instructor and combat vet. He told me I was at a significantly higher training level than the majority of cops on the street in the STL area. I have no idea how many hours of training I have had, but I do know it's a hell of a lot more than what is required of LEOs.

Another issue is just that females are enough smaller on average than a male that space becomes an issue. They have to carry so much on thier belt, vests and about thier person the odds of interference during odd movements or getting something else is much higher.
