Sig Sauer PCP Virtus

Belt Fed

Ronin
This is a long story so bear with me

I bought one of these about a year ago and the bottle fill valve messed up on it and wouldn't hold air, all it was is the o ring in the valve. this bottle is some kind of odd ball and you can't find parts for it anywhere. i even bought four different sized fill valves and none fit

So i gave up and called sig, they said send the bottle in and they would replace it. so they sent me a shipping label and i sent it in. that was about seven months ago. I would call about every month to see what was the holdup and all the reps couldn't really tell me anything. Finally i got a hold of this one guy named Thomas and he took the bull by the horns and did something.

he has called me several times with updates, last he told me they told him it would be February before they got the new bottles in. well about three days ago i e mailed him and ask again.

Now a while back they did tell me to send the gun back in and they would send me a new one, but i told him i had all this stuff on it and it worked like a charm and was a tack driver and really didn't want a new one. i had heard horror stories about some of them and mine worked. plus i didn't have the box to send it back in.

I did find a bottle for it and bought it cause i really didn't think i was going to get another from them. It's made in america so hopefully the valves i already bought will fit it. it does work on the gun as i haved popped a few squirrels with it.

Any he finally e mailed me and said he had a great solution for me, he even called me to explain it. They were going to send me a new gun and i could keep the new one and bottle or keep my old one and the bottle. i ask why not just send me the bottle and i won't have to send the gun back and you guys save on shipping.

He laughed and said i know it sounds crazy but they don't inventory that way, i said ok i understand. but really i didn't cause they are going to have an incomplete rifle whether they take it out or i do.

I then got to thinkin why not ask him if i can just buy the new gun, i knew it would be an incomplete package if i sent it back and knew it would probably get used for parts or something from them. I didn't know if they would sell it to me or not and figured it would probably be 200 bucks at least since they sell for 300 on Amazon.

He sent me a text back and said how does 50 dollars sound, I couldn't reply back fast enough to say awesome and sold. how do i pay you.

He then called me back and told me it's set up and all they need is my card number and they would get it shipped. i gave it to him and my bank ok'd it and it's coming. He said i will have to sign for it and i said no problem. I thanked him and ask to e mail his supervisor to let him know what a great customer rep he is. he said he forwarded all my e mails to him so i already have told him.

This is the old rifle, think i will put a scope of some kind on the new one when it gets here.

So, that's the old bottle? Sportsman's Wearhouse has hp hand/foot pumps that'll go up to 3 or 5k. Don't know if it's in stock or not, but I've heard that O2 is better than CO2. If not, it's cheaper for sure and readily available (if you don't leave it behind).

That's the one i sent back, the new one will probably be the same. the new on i bought is black with red letters and can't remember the name. it is a big name in air rifles though.

Pressurized (straight) O2 is a bad idea. Has a tendency to go boom if introduced to most oils.

It's like the regulator on an oxgyen tank for welding. There is usually a tag on the regulator that says don't get any oil or debris inside of it. The reason being is that the intense pressure can cause enough friction that will ignite the oil or debris which can cause the entire cyclinder to explode and totally ruin your day..

Makes more sense. If it can't regulate properly then it's bad for sure. But still there shouldn't be any oil in the tank for issues. I guess in the air gun case the trigger operates the regulator and could cause it to stay open or let more than needed air into the chamber. Still that wouldn't be a tank issue only a gun going kaboom.

“Only”.

This is why pressurized O2 is a bad propellant, and why CO2 is used.

There is a small hole below where the tank screws on. i put a couple drops of pelgun oil there to lube the seals in the gun. it does not go back in the tank

I notice those seals do need/require a bit of lube to work correctly and not break or dry out where the o-ring is when screwed onto the extension or the gun itself. Have had many leak because of that seal/o-ring/gasket.

That's why I'd go with the recommendation of the manufacturer. I'm sure those folks know best.

I’ve got a spring-pressure pellet rifle.

When I first got it, it would actually have a report, due to the oil in the bore dieseling when under pressure.

That was with “air”, which would be 21% (give or take) O2.

100% O2? That’s gonna be a lot more…energetic.

I doubt anyone running pellet/air soft/etc is actually running pure O2 as a propellant.
