Silver Bear 145 Gr. HP 9MM Luger Nickle Plated Case

Ran across a box of this stuff that was in a box of stuff we brought back from Texas. It was my brother in law's father's and god only knows how old it is or how long it's been in his stuff. I do know that most of the Silver Bear is zinc plated steel, but this says clearly on the box, Nickle Plated Case. I read some reports of squibs and FTE, but that was mostly with the 9x18 stuff.


Anyone have any experience with this stuff ? Should I be afraid to shoot it ?

Silver bear was zinc plated, iirc—dull silver?

I’ve run a fair amount of it…never had a problem with it.

I shot a ton of the 9x18 Silver Bear over the years in my Maks. If my experience is indication of anything, works just fine. Never to my memory ever had a single issue.

Yeah, I have only found a few references to the nickle plated stuff, the rest is zinc. This says nickle plated on the box.

If it’s shiny, it’s nickel.

A box or two won’t hurt anything.

It is shiny and looks like nickle to me.
