Skills Check: The Wizard Drill

Interesting. Out to 10 yards, all of my practice is draw and fire one handed. Beyond that I move to using both hands and it may or may not be draw and fire depending on where I am. Many ranges don't allow live weapon draws and I only use that type of range when I need greater distances that 10 yards, or to qualify once a year.

Weak hand and several position shooting is a must for serious close quarters combat training. Gunsite, at least years ago, had some of the best training programs around.

Those drills work well. Slight

Didn’t take pics, but...my buddy and I graded this drill fairly harshly, on a strict pass/fail scheme...more than 2.5 seconds? Fail. Push a round out of the head, even if it was a good body hit? Fail. Draw out of concealment (I was running my P30SK OWB with a shirt over it, he was running a VP9 IWB the same)...it's not easy.

Fun stuff, though. Think I might post a few more drills tomorrow.
