I was thinking about getting solar panels for the house for a very long time. Reading about different horror stories about leaking roofs, electrical issues, etc. kept me away. I recently had the entire roof replaced (plywood and all) so started looking into it again. What was frosting my hind quarter was the monthly electric bill. It was on the other side of ridiculous. I had a company come in for one of those in home assessments and they said everything was great. Still couldn't figure out why the electric bill was so high. Of course, that was only getting worse.
I decided to inquire with 3 different solar companies. One never got back to me. The other was going to use a mish mash of different parts to Frankenstein the system (that was best because it would save me money) and the last company specked out my neighbor's house instead of mine. I thought I am done with this.
A coworker caught wind of what I was doing and recommended a company that he used. Said they were great. A neighbor a few houses down also used the same company and liked them. I gave them a call. Got talking to an "adviser" and then we jumped on a zoom call on the computer. Showed me a ton of things and was very informative. What I was really appreciative of, was at the end of the call he said, "so if you decide to use us, give me a call."
To shorten this story, they are on the roof, and everything is warrantied for 20 years. No problems and most everything is internal. Already had a company knock on the door pedaling solar panels and when I said I already had them, they asked where the conduit was. (Panels are on the back roof so you can't see them from the street) Decided to buy them instead of lease. That way they are covered under my homeowner's insurance. Big up-front cost. I should get a third back in taxes.
I've had them for a month and a half. First electric bill was $2. This electric bill was a $100 credit. I'm loving it. Now I can buy more ammo.
