I brought home my newest addition today, and BUL SAS II UL. Super impressed with it so far. Quality seems top notch with none of the initial problems that I had with my Prodigy. In all fairness, the Prodigy has been perfect for over 700 rounds, but when it was brand new, it did require a bit work to get it that way. Hundreds of snap caps were cycled through it, hundreds of cycling the slide, and even a bit of polishing, mainly to help get rid of the dreaded disconnector drag. It is now just about perfect, although the trigger is still a bit on the heavy side but still very shootable.
But the BUL needed none of that. It is perfect right out of the box. Fit and finish are great, it's very comfortable to hold for such a small pistol, the slide is smooth with no disconnector drag, the trigger, oh the trigger is perfection! It has a very short take up, a very definite wall. If it does have any creep I can't feel it, and when it breaks it is super crisp. Reset is practically non-existent and it breaks at a very consistent 2 lb 9.8 oz trigger pull measured by my digital gauge. It may be almost too light for what's supposed to be a carry gun. I honestly can't imagine it getting much better. It's right up with there with my DW DWX, CZ TSO, and Sig P226 XFIVE in overall feel.
So I disassembled and cleaned the UL, lubricated it and ran a couple of magazines of snap caps through it just to check function, and it's ready for it's first range date. Since I'm more accustomed to larger, heavier guns it will be interesting to see how well it shoots and what kind of recoil it has. From reports I've seen I've heard mostly surprise at how well it shoots and how well such a light pistol handles the recoil. Of course there was one reviewer who complained that it was so uncomfortable to shoot that it hurt his hand, poor baby. But then recoil is a personal thing, some are bothered by it while other aren't. I'll soon find out, but the BUL does have the traditional very comfortable 2011 style grip so I think it will be just fine.
