Springfield 1911 trp trouble

Have my fathers trp, looks to have a laser in the spring guide and you push it in to turn the flash hide,my problem is the rail release isn't typical but on both sides has a lever and on the thumb side when you turn it has a red dot, cannot figure out how to remove the slide

It's a Lasermax, they were the only ones who made those, iirc.

Should cover it.

As I recall (I had one, briefly) you just rotate the right side switch past “off” and you can remove it...the rest is standard 1911 disassembly.

ETA—there’s a set screw on the right side switch, you'll need a small Allen wrench to remove it (one was included, if you still have it, it will make things easier...).

From googling appears to be a laser max,I found I need to remove a set screw and take off the right side ambidextrous"switch"which then the slide release works as a typical 1911,my son's a master sargent weapons instructor and said he's never seen one like that either.

Yep that's it,thanks

Advice?

Get rid of it and put in a GI setup...those LM's aren’t worth a :poop:. Don’t hold zero, are not very bright, switch themselves off, and don’t ride well in a holster.
