Springfield SAR 48

I figured I would go to the community with this one.

Recently picked up a Springfield Armory SAR 48 from a local gun shop. Paid $1,400.00 for it.

Wondering if anyone has a source for magazines.

Does anyone have any information on the production totals? I read somewhere around 800 units. Seems way low, but again figure I would put it out to the community.

Any leads on parts of mags would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Congrats on the rifle. $1400 is a great price !😱😱

The SAR 48 uses standard FN FAL mags.
DS Arms sells them as well as other military surplus sites.

No definitive data on the numbers imported.

Made & imported from IMBEL in Brazil in the "normal" configuration from 1985 to 89 and after neutered with thumbhole stocks.

Question...

I have seen the debate on metric versus SAE mags. What does the SAR 48 have? or does it depend on where it is made?

The only "inch" FALs are the Brit-pattern ones (UK, Aussie & Canadian, etc.).

Probably 90% of all FAL-types are metric.

But some inch parts can be modded to work in metric guns.

I used modified inch folding charging handles on my FAL builds.

Metric mags were made in numerous countries.
