SW Wisconsin Outdoor Range?

Hi,

Is there an outdoor range in Southwest Wisconsin where I can rent a bay and run drills like this?

I know of McMiller Sport Center but they're an hour away. I suppose I should contact them to see what they have available for non-members.

I was hoping some of you in the area could point me in the right direction. I used to do stuff like this outdoors twice a month and I really miss it. I haven't hit a steel target since last April. ;) Thanks for any insight.

Sorry man, I live 45 miles west of you and I know of nothing that fits the bill...

From what I can gather, private club ranges will be your best bet for anything other than shooting paper targets out to 300 yards across the southern part of the state. McMiller has steel targets, but only on their .22 plinking range (a section of their 50 yard range...east side). Shooting bays only, no running around playing tactical with a loaded weapon.

A co-worker tells me the club ranges WAY up north are pretty lax and allow some drills like the video describes...but I'm talking Minoqua area...

Thanks for checking in. I know we have chatted about what's available around here. I think I'm going to check out the Shultz Gun Club with their periodic "steel challenge" competitions. I won't get to run around like G.I. Joe but at least it will be outdoors, shooting steel, and I'll get to meet other competitors. That sounds like fun, and it's cheap.

I can’t give you a recommendation, but I will say that the private sessions that @KillerFord1977 and I do we run drills exactly like that on an indoor range. The only difference is we don’t run steel targets. I would look around to any ranges that are doing advanced/tactical handgun courses and see if they can accommodate. Or come on down to DFW and I’ll set up a session for us Gratis. Seriously.

There's a chance I'll be in town the middle of May. I'll let you know.

That would be brilliant. Just so you know, Wednesday is bingo night for @KillerFord1977 and Thursdays he dusts and reorganizes his beer can collection. This week he sorted the favorite beers of the Super Bowl winning quarterbacks from Super Bowl 1 to the present.

The governor of IL (fat-boy Pritzger) is opening a rifle/shooting range facility down south of Milwaukee near the border (maybe Twin Lakes area? Wilmot?)....might check that one out with what types of shooting they will allow.

Isn't that amazing that Pritzger is banning weapons across his state, and is also in the industry here. What a world.

Well, that's interesting. But there's no reciprocity with WI. ;)

Did you hear that a new range is being proposed in Waukesha county by Brian Dorow, a former LEO supervisor who happens to be the husband of a state Supreme Court candidate? I hope they get that property sorted. It sound like it would be a nice venue.
