When legislation or preferences steer a shooter away from a semi-auto carbine, it's time to go with Plan B: The tactical lever-action rifle.

I like some of those. I would be inclined to buy a 357 mag version of one before I would buy an AR but that's just me, I have plenty of. 357 options to pair with a "tactical lever" as it were.

That would be a very good "pairing".

My buddy bought a regular ( polished brass receiver) Henry Big Boy in .357 mag. Less than a grand and another $27 on the 6" rail. I put a Romeo 5 on it for him and it's a great shooter. Holds 10 in the tube.

Great option! I love my lever action rifles. The problem is that if SCOTUS doesn't put the kibosh on this flood of anti-2A legislation and executive orders it won't matter what kind of firearm you use as a fallback. The Supreme Court needs to rule definitively that the 2A is entitled to "Strict Scrutiny". However, that's a big ask from a John Roberts' court that has consistently added language to its 2A rulings that open the door for governmental attacks on the 2A.
