Talking about irony or is it hypocrisy?

In an interview with the Washington Post's Greg Sargent, Ryan Busse, who served for 25 years as vice president of sales for weapons manufacturer Kimber, claimed that, unless Congress does something about the manufacture of easily obtainable high-powered AR15's the U.S. is poised for an "absolute catastrophe."

I guess this is why Kimber always stuck with bolt-action rifles. Unfortunately, there are many in the gun community that feel the same why. Political discussion of any sort is verboten on several gun forums. If one expresses the opinion that the sky is falling, he or she invokes the wrath of the collectors of high dollar items that seem to believe that none of the new proposed laws will ever affect them because they don't own any semi-auto rifles. It seems to me Mr. Busse is just whistling past the graveyard.

“We still have cigarettes. We still have lung cancer. We still have chain-smoking. But we have less now. We made decisions to make things marginally better. We could do that with guns.”
- Ryan Busse, former firearms executive.

What??? Warning labels on firearm packaging? Novel idea and simply solution - life made marginally better through printed labels (I Did That!). This was from corporate executive.

So another one jumps on the anti-AR bandwagon of course not before paying off the mortgage on the farm and then suddenly finding redemption. Sure, the Company didn’t produce any AR’s but was it due to Busse, did he even have an input into the product array.
By the his cigarette analogy, Hershey didn't make sugar but it’s in their products, we still get cavities, not as many but less due to a disclaimer label on a chocolate bar? There isn’t one so don’t bother to look.

I agree to some of his opinion, but it does ignore the government response to firearm violence crime element with the rush to police criminal justice bond reforms that only had fueled the uncontrollable violence. He once promoted the sale of firearms and now finds certain firearms are the radical evil, who knows what his stance was, say in 1999.
He didn’t bring up schools and violence roots. He could have easily used the platform to mention more on the misguided youth and how the schools if not the parents lack of guidance through lifes developmental stages, to thrive to become self respecting, law abiding citizens at the very least considering all the other BS school curriculum, including resistance civil disobedience activism and participation that’s being encouraged.

WaPo wouldn’t have been interested if he was advocating on behalf of all the responsible AR ownerships and didn’t seek him out until his opinion became known to them probably via a publisher. Take the interview for what it is…he’s an author now and he has books to sell. His personal collection may indicate otherwise but we’ll never know or should care. It wasn’t Busse that said “headed for absolute catastrophe.” it was the interviewer Sargent. Busse just repeated what he was told.

Never heard of Busse until this post, but maybe he’s a smart man, just as is Joseph Robinette Biden Inc. when it came to making a a fast dollar, sell out, grow old, seek salvation, fading away and becoming insignificant without a shred of relevance.

“…unless Congress does something …”
- I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

The worst anti-smokers are those former 25yr 2pk a day smokers who got "insert health problems here" THEN decided to quit.

He sounds like that to me.
Let's not forget that many of these kids are brought up on violent video games and desensitized to the violence they wreck on others.
Me I just killed asteroids in my youth haven't found any walking around Earth yet lol

This is me. Finally got tired of the hassle so just put them down. Two years ago.

Last month really got a Karen mad -- I walked by that well built blonde, short skirt, well -- everything. I walked by her and said "that's wonderful -- you smell just like an ashtray". Dang, for feet around her just stank -- guess thats the good part of quitting.

Well I be one of those types. I smoked 2 - 2 1/2 pks a day plus welded for a living while puffing away. I finally quit . 10 years later I was diagnosed with late , stage 3 C. O. P. D. I have been disabled since 2005 and I not only hate the smell of a cig. but it triggers me into wheezing and gasping for breath.

To get back on tract , there is nothing like a person such as Busse who ecks out a living from firearms and then wants to stab firearm community in the back.

Yeah you don't know how bad they stink till you quit.

I propose an experiment. In some states, we compel all law abiding adult (age 18) citizens to own and be proficient with AR 15's, like militia laws of old.

In other states, we forbid such people from owning any weapons.

Let's see who fares better.
This was essentially done already, although on a citywide basis rather than a statewide basis. In 1982, the town of Morton Grove, Illinois enacted a law banning the possession of handguns by anyone other than law enforcement or active military. In response, the town of Kennesaw, Georgia enacted a law requiring every head of household to have a firearm and ammunition with a religious exemption. Here’s an article with the long term results of this experiment. Suffice it to say, Kennesaw, Georgia has fared much better than Morton Grove, Illinois…

I'm a smoker. I started when I was about 9 or 10. A pack and a half a day these days. If I quit I can see myself not letting people smoke in my house or my vehicles, but that's as far as my complaining about it would go.

“…desensitized to the violence they wreak on others…”

Nailed it, Pitt.

Google an article titled “It’s All About Him” ( hope I’m recalling the title right ). It was out there last time I looked. It’s about that kid Cho (you may have to include that name too) and the Va Tech mass shooting. I think the author came as close as anybody has in explaining this horrible drift away from reality.
(Spoiler: involves narcissism and lack of empathy).

… unfortunately, I cannot locate that article via Google. Author’s conclusion ( he claimed to have studied a number of mass shootings) generally revolved around the need to stop focusing on “guns” as the culprit and start paying attention to people who have clearly become withdrawn from ordinary society. I suppose his conclusions could be the reason the article isn’t readily available anymore (?)…
