About thirty five years I did a story on the Texas Ranger museum in Waco for my local newspaper. Like others have said it's definitely a great place to learn the history of the Rangers.

My former neighbor whom has since been relocated by the State of Texas to another city is a Texas Ranger.
He has spent many months on “tour of duty” protecting the Texas border with Mexico per the state constitution.

I was a police officer in a small Texas community in the late 70's early 80's. Several officers from the area got together about once a month for a poker game. One of the guys was a Texas Ranger. Can't remember his name but do remember what he looked like. He was over 6 feet tall, salt & pepper hair always wore a suit and at the games he carried a Colt SA revolver. Don't if this was his regular carry gun or just wore it to the poker games. Wish I could remember more. No disrespect intended this guy would have made a great poster for recruitment.
