I just bought the standard Girsan HP after waiting for the SA gun for over a year. Their loss. I haven't taken it to the range yet, but I look forward to it. I don't want to change over to 9mm on the press until I finish fooling with loads on .45 Schofield.
I'm not interested in the new model for the two reasons some of you guys like. The rail and the extended beaver tail. The sights sounded like a good idea until I read about the fiber piece coming out. I thought the grips might be cool as well until I read they were uncomfortable as they came. I like the looks of the checkered SA grips, I'm guessing I'd like them at the range. If the company listens and tweaks a few things, this model should improve.
The author used over 700 rounds of ammo for the article. At that rate, he must be well compensated for his writing. I mean no one can be a writer when it costs you a lot for every one, right? At any rate, I'm glad he did that much as it goes towards a very honest evaluation.
