Unless you're obligated to keep the muzzle brake, swap it out for the "real" flash hider. I disagree with the reviewers opinion on the difference in recoil. My Scout shoots very soft with the FH.

The 18" Bush/Scout/MK14 Mod 0 & 1 are my favorite M14 type rifles.

Those are both beautiful battle rifles. I'd take either of them.

I’ve had my Scout for about 10 years now. Purchased NIB with the green stock. I swapped the muzzle brake for a GI flash hider. It has forward optics. My AR is near the back of the safe. The Scout is right in front.

Consider the Coast Guard muzzle brake Smith Enterprise makes... it uses a castle nut.
