That new HK AR-15

Bassbob

Emissary
One of the bosses at my work approached me today and told me he had a chance to buy one, new in the box for $3200. This guy also owns a couple other HK rifle/carbines. 91 I think he said and something else. He also has a NIB Scar.

Anyway, I told him to buy it. He also has an older Colt M4 NIB. He also has 3 Benellis including an M1014. He makes less money than I do. What gives ? He is single. :sneaky:

OP doesn't know what model. I haven't seen the gun. I know it's a carbine. It seemed awful coincidental that he ran across it one day after I read about the new unobtanium HK though and he is clearly a guy with resources. His brother was an HK dealer and their friend still is. Still, I am guessing it isn't that one.

So, after a little research, there is a reason for it.

As I guessed, it’s lighter…by 10 grams.

The main reason, though, is that it’s actually more durable…it’s impact resistant, where a metal dust cover could, under extreme Delta/TEAM6/GSG9 style-conditions, deform on a hard impact and block the ejection port, where polymer will rebound.

*shrugs*

I suspect that if there was any problem with them, they’d be gone on the HK416.
