The .38 Special 200-Grain 'Police Load'

I recall being issued some of that stuff for a short period. The standard for .38 became 158 grain half jacketed hollow point. NIJ and NCJRS did a lot of research trying to identify the most effective police round and dispelled a lot of myths. That 200 grain stuff did load slick though.

I would be surprised if it makes it 10 feet.
Wanna stand 11 feet away and find out?;)

They made a 200gr loading for the .38 S&W—not the Special, mind you—that was considered quite the manstopper; in fact, the British adopted it as their .38/200 loading when the downsized their Webleys from .45 to .38 between wars...(then had to lighten them to 170(?) when the WW2 began and the Hague Convention forced them to start using jacketed loads again...).

I could take that as a threat, but I'll just laugh instead. Everything has an effective distance and I thought a 45acp was bad? Just because I might not like it doesn't mean it's not good!
