In a 1911, no! I have an xdm in 5.25". 1911 is not ergonomic friendly to me.

I always did like the .40, I have a Gen 3 Glock 27, I think an XDm Elite would go nice with it.

I really like the .40. It is accurate and a great personal defense round. I have an early XD four-inch gun that shoots tight groups if I do my part. I also have a 10mm 1911 that I had fitted with a .40 barrel and it is one of my two most accurate guns. My most accurate handgun is a S&W 625 that shoots cloverleaf groups all day long. I love them all!

I have never seen any reason to go to the .40 . I started shooting the .9mm and the .45 before the 40 ever came to exist . I have shot friends .40 cal guns but never owned one of my own.

In the end it's all about what you like and prefer!

They don't make cars all in one color and trim level for the reason being we all have our own unique taste. @RandomHero I hope SA makes this gun you! It probably wouldn't be to much for SA to make a conversion kit in .40cal for an existing XDM to satisfy that market as an option.

Interestingly enough, the .40 caliber has a long history in this country. Winchester chambered the .38-.40 WCF in their lever actions and Colt added the caliber to the Model P. In 1874, a cowboy could carry one caliber of ammunition for his/her sidearm and rifle.

What he said goes for me as well. The 40 just does not do anything particularly well IMHO except make Major with more rounds than a .45. Its one rules change away from joining the 38 super on the dust heap of cartridge history.

I carry the SIG cause it's a cool round that stops stuff.
