I’m a big fan of it; I have two 657’s, a 3” Performance Center, and a 7.5” scoped that’s I take deer hunting.

I really want to find a nice 58 one of these days, though—those fixed sight N-frames just look right, to me...and I can’t think of a better hard carry woods gun than something with fixed sights.

As far as recoil?

A little bit more, I’d say, when compared to a similar platform (N-frame Smith)...but, to me, not as much as a .44.

I’d say a mid-range .41 load would feel equivalent to a heavy .357.

I have a S&W 657 3" without the Hillary hole. I don't shoot it much but we never sell it. A 44 mag bullet is .430 and the 41 mag is .410 a different of .20. When the 41 mag came out it was called .41 Police and later chance to 41 mag. Great round.
