The .45 Auto does it all.

I'm curious how a 25oz 1911 shoots compared to a similarly weighted striker fired pistol. One of the things I like about a full size 1911 is the weight and the recoil reduction. Does a lightweight 1911 tend to be snappier?

It's been my experience that a striker-fired pistol has less recoil since the majority of the guns weight is in the slide which helps manage the recoil vs a 1911 that has a lower % of the overall weight in the slide.

Plus the .45 isn't really a high-intensity cartridge.

I don't own a striker fired .45, but I did own a 3" Kimber Compact in .45 and it's definitely more "snappy" compared to a full size all steel model.

I have a HK45. It's full sized and has an external hammer but a polymer frame. I can't tell a difference between it and a 1911. .45 ACP isn't a sharp recoiling load. I bet you can handle whatever you pick up.

I had a 24oz Colt New Agent for quite some time.

I don’t think it was snappier than a Glock 36, which I believe was the same weight; less snappy than a XDS, which I believe was heavier.

It’s also been said that the “polymer” pistols “flex” to or absorb the recoil whereas the steel or aluminum frame 1911’s don’t and that’s where you could feel the more perceived recoil in the 1911’s over the polymer pistols.

I don’t know how much I buy the flex thing. Sig says that about the Tunsgsten infused grip on the P320 X5 Legion, but the whole pistol weighs 43oz and has a 5 inch barrel. It’s practically a 1911 in its own right.
The polymer pistols that I have that seem to have less felt recoil tend to be the ones with a lower bore axis like the Archon Type B.
