The Armory Life M1 Carbine Article

I loved Dr Will Dabbs article in the Summer 2022 issue of The Armory Life. mos of the WW II and Korean War vets I hav ehead from said that if they were issued an M1 carbine, when they got to the battlefield, they traded it for a Garand. When in college in the early 70's, I went to the home of one of the students who lived nearby and he brought out his father's near mint condition carbine. I had already shot the M-16 in the Air Force and naturally shouldered the rifle ponting it toward an open door without my finer on the trigger. The guy flipped put and said don't shoot Aunt XXX who had walked to the road to get her mail. I told this nerd that I ws not going to shoot but had forgotten to clear the rifle think no one in their right mind would chamber a round in a weapon they left out in their house. Later in the late 80's we were looking for a used trumpet at a pawn shop and they had several M-1 carbines for sale for around $125 (one had a retractabe stock but the other two had the full wood stocks). I am still kicking my butt for not buying one of these carbines.
