i love to hunt with a charcoal burner. Patched round ball, cap or flint ignition. Puts the sport back in hunting. Modern muzzleloader kind of leave me cold. Neighbor (younger guy) bough a custom a couple years ago. 45 caliber, uses long spritzer bullets over inRoute 4198 and lit by a magnum large rifle primer. It’s incredibly accurate out to 300+ yards. Thing is, to me anyway, it’s nothing more than a modern single shot using careless ammo. I‘d love to see “primitive weapons Only” seasons, restricted to weapon types of the 1840’s and earlier. (Course I feel the same about archery. I still hunt with a stick bow, while most have long since went to compounds and now the big thing is high performance crossbows with telescopic sights.). Yes, these modern weapons are a lot easier to shoot and have a lot longer range, but wasn’t the whole point of using BP rifles or bow hunting to put the challenge back in the hunt? If I wanted an easy hunt I’d not fool with a muzzleloaderor a bow😏
