The Combative Carbine

The primary reason for the combative carbine is to have a gun with greater reach and precision for the atypical law enforcement or personal defense situation. The faster the threat is neutralized, the better. The AR-15 can be “dressed” however you like, but never rely on gadgets for performance. You can’t buy skill so don’t try.

my setups vary on lengths as some have rds or low fixed power (2x, 3x or 5x) and some have more magnification as barrels get longer. 5.56 being limited on power the need for larger cases in the 15 platform are needed. what i don't have are wml's. i do need some as it's a pita to use a flashlight efficiently.

Yeah, I feel like I have all the bases covered from 10’ to 600 yards. The problem will likely be having all those options right at your fingertips exactly when the shite hits the fan.

I have one that is rigged out as a NFA permitted suppressed SBR to mimick the SEAL’s set up. My go to shorty for SD or in the truck for length.
NVG compatible optic, IR laser, short suppressor and short WML

When suppressors come off the NFA list I’ll have a couple.

I have somewhat changed my position on braced pistols though. I put the brace back on my 10.5”. It’s a folder too. Red dot, MBUIS and Viridian HS-1.

My go-to 5.56 is an AUG, but…

If I had to take an AR, it’d be the Colt LE6921 w/Aimpoint M4 & Scoutlight. It’s an older (20yr or so) model, made before Colt QC went to hades. Troy handguard, VLTOR EMod, stubby VFG, Vortex flash hider.

Yeah, it’s state of the art circa 2010 or so (it was a work in progress for a while), but it’s got everything it needs, nothing it doesn’t.

My truck gun is an 11.5 inch A2 carry handled AR pistol, soon to be supplanted by another 11.5 inch A4 pistol.

In my state, I cannot carry a loaded rifle in my vehicle. So, a pistol it is.

Both are optic equipped, and the one without a light, will soon be fitted with one.

I shoot the former in regularly, the latter is still in the setup and final configuration stage.

The A4 has since had a Smith Enterprise Vortex flash eliminator added, and will have a Meprolite M21 for serious work.

10.5" is READY TO ROCK!
both of those are excessively loud unless you dummy down the loads. i've got an 11.5" also and i know how loud it is. got a 12.5" 308win and it's quieter , but the blast is way worse.
