One of the best articles I’ve read on shotgun manipulation. I agree with every single thing he said. I never fell into the “ Dominant hand must remain on the shotgun and shotgun must never leave your shoulder” trap. And I’m virtually ambidextrous. I violin load and load from underneath with the support hand on the fore grip, using my dominant hand to load.

I hadn’t given much thought to “ even lower” ready, but in a public setting it makes perfect sense. It’s also worth noting that if your shotgun is equipped with a red dot, preferably one with a 32 MOA circle with a 2 MOA dot in the middle, the time from “ Low Ready” to hits on target is ludicrously short. Or should be if you’re training properly.

I don't know what those things are. And I can't imagine anything faster than a glowing ball on the end of your barrel for night target acquisition, much less "infinitely faster." ;)
I thought that. Until I put a dot on a shotgun the first time.

Esstac shotgun cards are cards you pre load with 5 or 7 rounds and carry in a pocket or a chest rig. They attach to your receiver via a piece of industrial Velcro. So when it’s empty you simply rip it off, drop it and slap a loaded one on.

Not sure why anyone would go into a "Disorderly" situation with an unloaded shotgun.
As said, the psychological effect..". You haven't entered the fray yet you are just arriving. Now if you know, or you should know, in order to rack a round into battery, your weapon is already loaded….critics!

Not hardly. It gets your attention, I have been there, have you? Not going to get into a pissing contest with ya. Simply my opinion based on experience,
I actually have been there. Methed up dude ( currently in prison for killing 2 people in a home invasion) didn't flinch when I racked the shotgun. Shotgun was actually loaded, so it kicked a shell out as I did it, but I was hoping ( like you) that the sound would stop him. He didn't flinch. Not wanting to kill him I drove the butt of the shotgun through his face. You could see his teeth through his cheek. That stopped him. (About a month later I had to kick the crap out of his "MMA fighter" brother in a bar over it.) 3 Weeks later he came down to the neighborhood and apologized. Last year, methed out again, he killed an elderly man and woman in a home invasion. He's now being raped in prison I suspect.

No serious training with a shotgun includes relying on an unloaded pump shotgun. Just because you, a cop presumably, got everyone's attention when you did it, that doesn't mean it will work in any situation or even most situations.

I gotcher back on this one, PO. I too have seen this particular elephant. ;) (y)

Fun Fact #1: The sound of an M1 carbine bolt being racked is amazingly close to the much more familiar sound of a typical 12-gauge pump shotgun being racked.

Fun Fact #2: That sound has exactly the same effect.

Fun Fact #3: Whenever you hear a shotgun being racked on The Simpsons (and Moe has the only double-barreled "pump" shotgun I've ever seen), it's not a shotgun at all, it's really an M1 carbine. Listen carefully next time. ;)

No it isn't. Empty chamber is not loaded. Yeah I'm a critic. I've put more rounds through a shotgun than anyone I know and I have been training with them for about 30 years now. You're simply wrong. You want to hope you can charge the weapon and fire before the guy who wants to kill you shoots you, stabs you or overtakes you, go right ahead my friend.
