This is a gun I already own and love. I got my first deer (in Wisconsin) years ago with one.

The only problem with this gun is actually getting one that works reliably. The surplus guns in great shape are too valuable as a collector's piece to shoot very much, if at all, and most of the ones produced commercially are less than acceptable, with the exception of some very high priced versions. I can recommend Fulton Armory but I'm not aware of any others out there producing a reliable carbine. That gun will set you back $1,800.00 plus shipping, handling, and tax.
