The Right to Own a Gun Isn't Just for Americans

As per the article the east/central countries (excpt for Germany) learned from decades of Soviet oppression. Also, the Finns have a long history is issues with Russia fighting the Soviets 2X pre-and during WW2. The EU govt has tried to get Finland to follow EU gun control edicts but Finland has a active gun culture directly related to civil defense so they pushed back.

The western EU countries are comfortable to hide behind the EU countries that border the BEAR.

Bassbob is dead on regarding the gun culture of the Czechs...private ownership and concealed carry is very common there. I conduct business 3-4 times a year in the Czech Republic, France and Greece. France, which surprises most people, has a very robust shooting culture with some of the best civilian shooting facilities/ranges I've ever seen. One of my favorites is a 3,000 meter rifle range in southern France....and yes there are .338 and .50 cal owners in France.
One of their best known competitions is 'King of the 1 Mile'.
Greece also has a very strong civilian gun culture with some very good ranges in the Thessaloniki area. Although the hoops you have to jump through would be considered a PIA by most of us the shooters there are a dedicated lot who do what is required.
