The Automag II was one of the very first semi-auto pistols to be built around the 22WMR cartridge.

AMT is probably more well known for an equally large gun, the Auto Mag chambered in .44 Auto Magnum Pistol (.44 AMP or .44 AutoMag).

Originally produced from 1987 until 1999, then by High Standard until that company closed up shop went in 2018.

I had the shortest model back in the day. It was a fire breathing beast! The magazine spring was so stiff that at least one or three rounds had to be tossed due to being bent like a taco while loading the next round. As long as you used the Winchester super X ammo it was reliable, anything else forget about it.
Believe it or not it was louder than anything in 9mm, magazines were insanely expensive in the early 1990's. The gun came with one to buy another was $100.
It was very hard to field strip and reassemble for cleaning.
I was glad to get rid of it!
