This week we’re taking a look at another discontinued gun, that has seen modern variants rise up to take its place. I am of course talking about Combination Guns, specifically the Savage Model 24, which lives on today in the form of the Savage Model 42 rifle.

I've never owned one of these combo guns, but have thought for a long time that a .22LR/20 ga 3" mag would make a HELLA lot of sense as a "survival gun." Especially with maybe something like a 3" or 4" .357 on your hip or tucked into a chest or shoulder holster. ;)

I have a similar Stevens 240 I think is the model, it was my father's.
It is a 410 O/U on the 24 frame, dual hammers and triggers.

Originally looked like this:

Now has a walmut stock and fore end.

That's what I learned to shoot with. My nephew has it now and is teaching his kids to shoot with it.
