The Shotgun Violin Reload

Good article/video from @Bassbob :sneaky: er, I mean Chris Baker of Lucky Gunner on "The Shotgun Violin Reload" technique. Video duration 8:05 minutes

Well, FWIW, I am very adept at "Violin" loading. Somewhat less adept at quad loading. Of course I'm not too into 3 gun and don't have the shell caddies. I can and do load doubles. Especially on the TS-12 which lends itself to that very nicely.

Also the old "Never take your firing hand off the shotgun" thing is BS unless you are in CQB, at which point it's probably not even relevant. If you've run it dry you're now holding a club not a shotgun. I can keep my gun shouldered holding the forend with my support hand much easier than I can hold the butt stock with my strong hand. I'm a few seconds faster that way than I am holding it under my armpit or to my shoulder with my firing hand and loading. Generally speaking I port load with my support hand and reload from empty with my firing hand either violin style or just holding tight with my support hand on the forend.

One thing i don't do is cradle it like a baby, ala John Wick in the scene where the Sommelier hands him the M4.

This guy here is one of those guys who always filled me with ennui. That is, "Meh". I don't generally watch his videos and out of boredom clicked on this one.

Now before we even get to the drills and the shooting, within the 1st minute of this video this guy left me shaking my head. See if you can figure out why.

The drill and range seems like it could be legit, but the two guys shooting need work and I'm not sure Yeager is the guy to give it to them.

If you want to go learn to fight with a pump shotgun, go find some old school ‘70-‘80’s era State Troopers or LEO.

They’ll show you how to run a pump shotgun… AR’s were not even a thing

Oh, I’m doing this pheasant hunting next week.

Gonna be all ATAS.
