Still want to try the old west shell “version” with a wad of nickels
I grew up shucking a model 31 Remington. My dad got the shotgun because of a friend of his. he had fallen on tough times and pawned it. Time came to get it out of pawn and dads friend didn't have the money.
He told dad he would rather him have the gun than anybody . Dad took $17.00 to the pawn shop and walked out with a shotgun that only had 3 shells shot out of it. This was before I was even thought about.
Every time I walk into a gun store and see a model 31 on the shelf , my heart skips a beat because I hope it is mine. It was stolen in 2004 when our house was robbed and the house burned to the ground.
I like Pheasant Hunting it's my favorite game bird to hunt. I had a German Short Hair Pointer for years. But Pheasants here are imported to private plantations for guided hunts not too many in the wild as most ground-nesting birds fall victim to Coyotes & Feral Hog as their Populations have grown in the past few years and they have wiped out the Bob White quail populations here. Turkey is still a hardy bird they roost in the trees but their eggs & chicks fall victim to Coons Possums Armadillos Feral Hogs Coyotes, Bob Cats. I sure miss pheasant hunts out west with my old Pointer he has been gone for more than 25 years. But I have gone on some plantation hunts but it's not the same as the wild birds out west.I’ve got my grandfather's model 31.
I’ll take it pheasant hunting once or twice every year instead of one of my usuals, just because.
