There’s a place for revolvers in the firearms pantheon, and the Taurus 856 is a solid option for anyone looking for a budget-friendly six-shooter that can hold its own with much pricier competition.

My SIL has one. When he bought it he brought it over here because he couldn't figure out how t get the cylinder off. Turns out the guy he bought it from never cleaned it. It's a nice little gun.

I'm a sucker for cheap guns, so I picked up one an 856 last year when I found it for $229.00. I went with the standard version instead of the Ultralight because my accuracy with follow-up shots isn't where I'd like it to be when shooting +P rounds through lightweight revolvers. After adding some orange paint to the front sight, it shoots pretty accurately. The main thing that has kept me from carrying small revolvers is the 5-round capacity, so I like that Taurus put a 6-round cylinder in the small frame.

The finish was as rough as sandpaper, but was evenly applied. The cylinder locks up tight and all of the components seem sturdy. All-in-all it isn't a bad gun and was well worth the price I paid. The 856 will probably never be my carry piece, but it makes for a great truck gun.
