The Threat of Tribalism

I'm still thinking about the author's statement about the ACLU being strict followers/upholders (or something to that effect) of the Constitution.

Unfortunately not for a very long time! It's a sad, sad situation y'all.

You got me thinking. The problem is not necessarily tribalism but the lies these people tell themselves. They are just narsacists that believe what is good for them is good for all. Much like the runaway capitalism they are professing to wage war on.

It is a simple lack of respect. One can only practice tolerance for so long. If you dont respect yourself you cannot respect others they lack guiding principles based in reality.

Tribalism is a huge problem by itself, too. Actual meeting of the minds is way more productive than two groups, both of whom think they are righteous, yelling at each other.

Agreed, however, the root of the problem lies within the individual. No matter what level an individual may be at, there will always be a form of tribalism, or as we like to mask it, 'social circles.'

Great respectful back and forth on this thread, my opinion it comes down to (culture) and how “we” are raised, if as young children we are brought up to respect each other and individual beliefs then as adults we allow others to express themselves without condemnation.
Currently we are seeing a breakdown in social respect for human life and I’m not bringing color into this. The culture is I’m right and you’re wrong and I will force my opinion on you in any way I can.
