“SLR”, “L1A1”, “right arm of the free world”, the FN FAL has had many names and even more variants, but here are the five most common examples you’ll likely find spread throughout the world.

Top 5 Most Common FAL Rifles

Note: Back in the 80's and early 90's Springfield Armory offered a re-branded semi-auto Brazilina IMBEL FAL, as the SAR-48 and 4800 in different configurations.

If one was to try and purchase one, which is the better version?
Due to import bans on complete build rifles, almost all FAL’s in the US are rifles made from parts from all over the world.

A complete rifle from 1 country is a lot more rare and $$$. Usually the less expensive complete rifles are from Imbel(brazil)

Avg new build from DS Arms is $1800
Most parts kit build rifles on the market are around that price.

Belgian, British, etc rifles are double/triple $$$ ++

I have a DSA SA58 that I'm trying to rehab. It's an early fixed stock model that I think has a welded on flash suppressor. It has a scope mount cover, but I'm thinking of putting a standard top cover back on it, and would need to order a new rear sight since the original was removed. Has anyone used the Para rear sight with quick adjust windage knob that DSA sells? It seems to have an advantage over the fixed stock rear ramp sight. Or I could keep the scope mount cover and put on a DSA 4 power scope. Or I could put it back into the safe where it's been for years.

Send me some pics. I’ll point you in the right direction

Here it is. I'm sorry the pictures aren't any better, but the sun was going in and out of the clouds.

I have almost near identical/similar rifles .

You should be able to mount the Para or Fixed stock rear sight. The rounded rear para sight was meant to no snag on cords like a potential fixed sight would.

I personally like the fixed sights better as they adjust from 100-600 meters vs para that are set to flip 250 or 600 meters

Good to know. I've read that many folks go back to the ramp sight after trying the para, but what you said good sense. Thanks again. I value your opinion.
