The Valmet Model 412 was a nicely made European combination gun that earned a good reputation for itself, primarily in Europe and Britain. Its design was very much like the Remington 32 (i.e. 3200) and was built to provide a shooting system based around an over/under double shotgun style barrel break action with the option to buy shotgun, rifle/shotgun combination, and/or double rifle barrel sets for it.

Succesed by the 512 series, and preceeded by a variant...the Savage 2400.

The man I worked for years ago training bird dogs had a Savage 20Ga made by Valmet . It was either a 330 or a 333 . I can't remember for sure but think it was a 330 model. It handled well and shot great.

The Savage 330 shotgun barrels will interchange in a 2400 but not the 333 barrels.

I have a 12/.308 2400.

Only thing I know is he also had a Browning Superposed that was a fine piece of craftsmanship that I hated. It just didn't fit me right and I couldn't hit very often with it. Hand me that Savage and I could kill every bird I shot at.
