The What & the Why: Flashlights & Handguns

Good article on the what and why of flashlights and handguns.

Thanks for posting Anni,
Good article, stirred up some thoughts. One rarely if ever mentioned is once a light is switched on, the light itself and holder can also become a target. Also, as mentioned carrying spare batteries and another handheld light may come in very handy. Rechargeable lights are nice - as long as batteries are also locally available and replaceable.

LEO trains ( or used to) in the use of handheld flashlights along with their duty weapon. The training, I understand, is/was similar to how we currently train with WMLs.

I'm simply not going to give up grip/control of my piece to operate another light which may cause me to lose accuracy/control of both when there are mounted pieces that will take the punishment and can be momentary on, solid on, or strobe with a finger touch that does not disturb grip/readiness. A momentary "blink" of a powerful weapon mounted illumination with my immediate shift in position after the blink blinds/stuns the perp, allows me to access the situation, make a decision for full on or strobe (strobe is a rare option). That's my style and I'm sticking with it (till I hear better).
