Thief caught on camera

Woken up at 0130 this morning by the blink camera dinging on the phone. I look and someone, a women, is trying to break into my wife's suv. I open front door with gun in hand and the women starts freaking out. Of course she has a phone in hand telling someone to come right away. She tells me someone was chasing her, right. She sees the gun and a suv pulls up, with another woman driving and takes off. Police called but they are long gone before they arrive. Now it's 0300 and i'm on The Armory Life! I guess my day has started. Thank god the Buick was in the garage!

Glad it turned out the way it did and that she only seemed interested in your wife’s car. Doubt she’ll be back to try again knowing the potential prize for her actions include free “ventilation”.
PS- your car is in the garage while your wife’s is in the driveway… you really love your Buick. 😁

We have quite a bit of pilfering in our area, but usually it is teenagers on foot. Basically, they are looking for cars left unlocked and just steal what they can when they find one. Since the suv responded so quickly, it sounds like your incident was more than that. I am glad it turned out okay. You can take a well deserved nap this afternoon. 🙂

Did the camera capture a plate from the get away vehicle ?

I'm glad it worked out for you. Our community is gated. Now, that would not necessarily stop someone from climbing the perimeter wall. However, we have a camera system that automatically captures photos of the front and rear of the vehicles that enter, as well as photos of the people in the front seat. There is also a license plate capture. If you have one of those license plate covers that obscures the license plate, you're not getting in. You want to wear a mask and don't have a resident bar code on your vehicle? You're not getting in until your picture is taken. The system also captures video of pedestrians. We also have armed private security guards roaming at night (mostly moon-lighting or retired LEO's). No system is 100% foolproof, but we do take appropriate measures.

I'm sure there are those who will say our system is a privacy violation. Boo-hoo. Our community is private property, and this is how we've decided to protect it. If someone wants to come onto our property, one has to follow our rules.

Hi,

I'm very glad you and yours are safe. Hopefully no property was damaged.

Maybe now it's nap time? ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,
