I picked up a router table a few days ago because I'm making a toy box for my niece and cutting box joints on a table saw are a pain. Good God does a router table and a box joint jig make cutting the pins easier! I got all four side panels (which are 1x4's joined with dowels and woodglue to make a 17" panel) cut in less than a half hour, and the cuts are near perfect.

What new toys have you picked up that made your life better or easier?

Well, we sold our house in November, and instead of moving some of the older furniture we had, we bought a new bed, set of chest of drawers and new dining room table, so that kinda helped us a lot with our move.

IKEA kitchen cabinets. As a longtime journeyman carpenter I have hung 8 million kitchens worth of cabinets. After my house flooded in 2017 and I gutted it we completely redesigned the house. Well, my wife largely did the redesigning, I largely did the rebuilding. We used IKEA cabinets in the kitchen and holy crap. Why would anyone ever hang cabinets the old way?

Gun magnets. How the hell did I live most of my life without gun magnets?
