Couple weeks ago I posted a thread about gun wraps....I was considering wrapping my Shield Plus Performance Center EDC....I was concerned primarily how well the wrap would wear since the weapon is my EDC...after a couple days or research and thinking about it, I decided to have the slide cerakoted in FDE....got it back yesterday and I think I made the right decision....Much better wear and looks great....Very happy with my choice....

Looks nice indeed. I had the opportunity a while back to get a decent deal on a used, well outfitted FDE setup, but not being a fan of all FDE I passed on it, two tone maybe but not all FDE. I didn’t even think CeraKote. Wonder now if the cost of the professional application process would probably ate up any savings on the used item.
 
As I have started or will restate you won't lose any protection as for the slide is already protected by the coating. After many years I have removed some coverings from the guns. No signs of rust. As far as wear, ceracote is a tougher, longer and wears better. Something you're going to holster that has a wrap will start to come undone.
