This makes me Mad as Heck -We the people need to push back on laws like this

In Massachusetts you would need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you had zero options to get away even if you are in your own home to attempt to justify using lethal force. Thank God I moved to NH where we have stand your ground and castle law. I would never want to take anyone's life but I will defend myself and the innocent if the need ever arises.

I have thought of scenarios like this many times. Not because of any local laws that say you can or can't beat on each other but because of the responsibility of being a firearms owner. If anyone is being attacked and is carrying a gun or weapon, the attacker could either disarm and use it on the owner or at minimum, now have the means to elevate themselves to be an armed criminal. That would make the person carrying the firearm a victim twice. You have been assaulted and your gun has been stolen. Here, that puts you on the hook for all sorts of charges and confiscations. We are a "duty to retreat" state and each case would be scrutinized. Not only would you need to fear for your life, you would have to prove why you were in fact fearing for your life. The criminals here certainly do have the upper hand.

I know of one recent happening on the news were there was a road rage incident and one of the parties involved ended up being a hood ornament on a local highway going about 65 MPH. When they came to a stop because of traffic, the driver tried to escape and someone pulled a gun and held the driver. Very surprisingly, no charges were filed against the person who pulled the gun. Everyone must have had a good breakfast that day. That individual was lucky. That is the only time I have heard of someone pulling a gun here that was actually was not arrested or charged.

I think this encourages society as a whole to turn away and not get involved because it promotes a doing the right thing will get you prosecuted mentality.
