to holosun or not

With the m&p 57 using a shield rms footprint I'm debating over the 507 and 407 "K" (dot color irrelevant or dot moa). Swampfox also has an optic for this footprint also, but it's an "always on" unlike the holosun. I'm not contemplating the romeo 0 at this time and still trying to see what all optics use this footprint rms/c.

Here's a link that might help everyone that has needed to know what is compatible with what. 1 of the better if not best pages I've found on the subject.

Although I stand by my purchase and use of the Holosun brand handgun optic and run the same model HS507C X2 on two of my Springfield’s; about two weeks ago I was talking with the owner’s of a LGS that has helped me out with two purchases and sales of two of my guns, they are a big seller of both the Holosun and Trijicon handgun and rifle red dot optics, during the conversation both guys said they ran Holosun optics on their respective handguns and after recent outdoors range time they found that due to what they believe to be issues with coatings on the optic glass the red dot was washed out when shooting into the sun.
Having the option and availability they switched to Trijicon red dots and found the glass and glass coatings did a better job of reflecting sunlight and keeping the red dot prominent.
I’m not saying I’ll be replacing my Holosun’s with Trijicon optics just thought I’d share.

Edit……

Full disclosure I have not shot my handguns that have the Holosun’s installed outside so I’ve not experienced the discussed issue however when I move forward with a rifle purchase this year I’ll be looking at the Trijicon brand made for rifle applications.

Having a type 1 trijicon and they state use type 2 I've had no issues that are supposed to be with type 1's. All are full sized and larger (up to 50mm) and havidot colors in amber, red and green of various brands, none are small/compact optics like the wasp. I have no reason to stay with high dollar mrs as I've had good luck with the $200 optics. I've used venom's for years. Thought of trying something different. Probably green dot with a 3moa or smaller is preferred. 6moa on a compact optics would almost cover the lense.

Holosuns are extremely robust and unless you have them on auto they are going to wash out in direct sunlight. Almost any dot will do this. I don’t keep my red dots on auto because I mainly shoot indoors and I like to keep the setting quite low. If I point any of my dots - Holosun, Romeo 1 Pro, DPP, Fastfire 4, etc into a bright light they will practically disappear.

I keep mine on auto.

The only time I see them fade is if I point directly at a light. Even then I can still see it.

Lately I put a few WMLs on some stuff. I checked and with the light pointed directly at a wall right in front of me my reticles are still visible.

Also other than the Romeo 5s on 2 guns, all my red dots are either 510c or 512c and all are set on 65 MOA circle with the dot in the center.

Auto brightness or auto on?
