I have both kinds. A Remington 870 Tactical 18" bbl (that I modified with a pistol grip forend, pistol grip stock, side saddle for 6 shells & a M7 bayonet), Stoeger M3500 Semi auto, and Mossberg 590 Mariner with tube magazines. Then a Mossberg 590M Shockwave and Remigton Tac14DM with detachable magazines. Both the Shockwave and Tac14DM, have the Green Crimson Trace side saddle laser to help with aiming. To be honest, I like both types.

Good post grasshopper, I’m just not a shot gunner, but it’s a good read.

I have a Remington 870DM Tac-14 with a 6-round magazine that I picked up on sale a few years ago out of curiosity. The gun functions flawlessly, but I'm not convinced that the detachable magazine offers any sort of tactical advantage. Like the article states, it may be quicker to reload from empty, but there is no practical method to top-off single rounds like you would with a tube-fed gun. The gun is a cool range toy, and works as a conversation starter, but all of your home defense or hunting needs can be just as easily met with a traditional shotgun.
