Good article

I wish all the losers that talk about “this is good for a 1,000 yards” would actually read this as when I ask them what the bullet drop is and mill hold over at that range with a 308 they are clueless because they only talk about it and have never shot that range (usually a ounisher sticker anywhere in their truck, gear or screensaver is indicative of this)

By memory (I haven’t been behind a sniper rifle since 2011) it’s somewhere around 420 inches and 126 mils on a 308 but I don’t claim to be Chris Kyle either and quip 1,000 yards

We have ranges and instructors in N Tx that teach all this distance out to 1000. I have a coworker who has become very good at it.

Me, not so much. My comfort is out to 300-400. Thats it.

I know there are qualified relevant folks and places I’m just referring to the folks that have never shot 1,000 yards but here they are quipping what is or isn’t good for 1,000 yards. A few I asked (sort of because I knew they were full of it) and they had zero clue on hold over drop or mil dots or the 3.6” at 100 yards but here they are talking!!!!!!

I have seen folks come into a LGS and ask what rifle will let them kill and elk at 1000 yds, when they have no skill in shooting that far in mountainous country.

There's a big difference between shooting off a bench on a flat range & shooting across canyons with swirling winds at different elevations.

Most of the TV hunting shows are to blame.
