Vigilante justice. Are we reaching that point?

People are feeling helpless, and that makes them angry. When it is something they are passionate about, it's hard to rein that in. Doesn't make it right, but I can see how it can escalate in someone's mind to a point where they NEED to do something.
You should hear me scream at the TV when the mister is watching FOX News. I would never act on it, but I get pissed off. Tequila helps..

Amen Sister! If the TV had feelings, I would be sued for verbal abuse.

I hope we are not. There is a burden of proof for a reason, we are innocent until proven guilty. Yes, it can seem frustrating, we all judge guilt and innocence from the outside of the courtroom, fanned by the news. But every news source has its own prejudice.

It needs to be hard to take away a person's freedom, perhaps life. There must be the burden of proof on those who would take away that freedom. Even as hard as it is, we find mistakes made. Vigilantee justice is all too often permanent, mistakes or no.

Sooo ... how does the right to carry for self-defense stand up to being a vigilante?? Not quite sure how to phrase the question.

Welll.....this guy lured him into a park, shot him and killed him. That is not self defense or stand your ground. While I have no pity for the pedophile, what this guy did is not only wrong, it gives the left even more ammunition( pardon the pun) to take away our means to defending ourselves. Of course, had the justice system done its job, this perv wouldn't have been out on the street.Had the guy been the father of a child that was a victim, he would have been more than justified in doing this, IMHO. And as for burden of proof, they have his laptop with pictures of child porn.

And the killer had said burden of proof BEfORE killing the person? If not he still made a choice to murder someone on suspicion alone with no proof.

Not everything is always as it seems. Case in point, my cousin was accused by his wife, during a divorce, of child porn. Police had his laptop and he was arrested.

A forensic exam of the lap top showed that the pictures were downloaded from his home, at a time when he was out of state on a fishing trip.

He was lucky there was proof he was innocent and they took the time to discover it. As it is, there was never a story in the news of his innocent and some still believe it.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Being a pedophile is vile, disgusting, and is lower than pond scum. Nevertheless, it’s up to the court to mete out justice on this side of Judgment Day, and to God thereafter. When we take justice into our hands wantonly, nothing good stems from it.

hey ya know what...??

if it accomplishes something for the betterment of the town, city, the citizens, and the gene pool,???.... i'm all for it.
Careful with that way of thinking. Every fascist/communist/statist/tyrant starts off down the road of "for the greater good." And stupid people think it makes sense and let them get away with it. Give 'em an inch and they'll take the whole nine yards. ;)

We used to have an unbiased legal system that applied to all. I spent 26+ years dealing with prosecutors and judges at city, county, state and federal levels. Then, most were ethical and upheld their oath of office. It was only a very small % that corrupted the system.

It has become evident that the system is currently undeniably biased towards certain groups in this country. When the system ignores the victims, they may become judge, jury and executioner. It's not right, but it's a fact.

It should be the Victim's Justice System, not the Criminal Justice System.

This morning it was reported that Border Patrol processed over 1,000,000 illegals since Oct 1 (4 months). Plus, BP typically says there another 30-50% that are confirmed or suspected "get-aways". Plus, BP detected 160,000 gang members during this period.

On track for 3 million more + 1-1.5 million "get-aways" for this fiscal year.

Illegals are actively involved in many types of crimes & the LEOs are stretched thin nation-wide so, I think its easy to figure out where all this is going.
