Violence against officers trending upward

Action

He speaks the truth:

"Congress has literally done nothing to address the violence towards law enforcement officers and it's time for it to happen. If these devastating statistics were to happen to any other profession in America, we would see press conferences. We would see hearings. We would demand that something be done. But somehow law enforcement officers are not recognized for the sacrifices they make,” added Yoes.

The solution couldn't be simpler (note: not easy, but simple). Get rid of Soros DA's and/or prosecute crime. Problem solved. It is reprehensible what "we" have chosen for our society. Note my quotation marks on "we". Press conferences? That means "media"....

It’s just so out of control.
Optics-wise, it’s one sided and deemed offensive to bring it to public attention. You won’t find that FOP news release in any mainstream media.

Just this week Chicago Cook County prosecutors dropped a murder charges against a woman for summoning her 14 yr old son to come and gun down an Unarmed Man in a fast food restaurant.
This standard is not afforded for LEO’s even if the suspect is Armed during the commission of a violent crime. The prosecutor cites it as qualifies for self defense.…AFTER first approving murder.
Guess which agency and agents thereof gets subject to discipline, shamed and scorned and sued ? (hint: It’s not the activist County Prosecutor)

Also there was a mid-week street takeover by destructive young adults, in an area that always voted heavily for progressive leftist candidates. When some concerned residents called 911 about being trapped in the mayhem or their car was being trampled on, the “Don’t Demonize the Kids” police dispatcher said “theres nothing they can do”, calls for service were overwhelmed and backlogged.

So really, I don’t blame the police for not wanting to get involved in these political consequences.

I”m surprised by Congress for not making the issue of enhanced penalties for crimes against police a national issue by now, even 6 years ago. Many LEO related issues have bipartisan support.
Even as there are already local laws that are in effect, many jurisdictions like here in Chicago Cook Co. these matters are tossed, plead down or time-served sentencing releases.

Tell you one thing, if these armed feral urchins spent anytime in school and were going after teachers….there would be a NEA national walkout and demands for Congressional action, but still kick out the PSO and divert that funding for after-school programs.

Perhaps states should do away with compulsory attendance laws. At age 16 if you don't want to attend school then you're free to go, but give them a voucher on the way out the door and tell those kids they are free to come back when they are serious about their future and are willing to follow the rules.

Feral children with no positive male role model at one end and prosecutors and judges unwilling to put the little adam henry's away where they can't hurt anybody at the other end.

Every time an officer is killed I look at the killer's history and ask, "why was he walking around loose?"

Reagan was right. We need to lock violent criminals away and throw away the key.

”In 2021, just 33% of 11th grade students could read at grade level. Only 29% could perform math proficiently. One school year later in 2022, 87.3% of that cohort of students graduated. Illinois also celebrated its highest graduation rate in a decade.”

Mandatory attendance is the standard for annual state funding in IL. That’s only for the first day of school attendance not an average of all school days.
Remember truancy demotions or hold back, summer school make up and truant officers?
None of that exists anymore.

Many kids fall through the cracks of peer pressure, many adults return to school and surprisingly they make up a good portion of college grads.

Math and reading scores are well below grade in hundreds of schools in IL and almost in all in Chicago. Imagine math proficiency at 0%...and folks want these young adults to take up space in college and get free rides.

There are schools with full operating expenditures where teacher and teacher aide daily roster is greater than the student enrollment.

Today it’s not so much kids not going to (grade) school, but those that are that they’re not being taught to read, write and comprehend but instead forced indoctrination of ideologies.

One last word, this got my goat when I read it.
NYC mayor Adams got testy with a citizen expressing her displeasure and disappointment with the city rent controls. Adams, a former NYPD a ranking member, then rebukes and dismisses her unless he gets respect.

Now - if Adams where still in the employ of NYPD, his action would be subject to arbitrary disciplinary review.

These days we are seeing many of the privileged Elected getting vulgar, dismissive and ignoring the electorate and above all, enact imbecile citizen disciplinary boards to cite the police officers for unsubstantiated and anonymous allegations of such type actions.
Politicians don’t measure up or abide to the same public official demeanor and decorum standards the LEO’s are held to.
That’s another thing that need to change.

In Colorado our media is generally leftist. So I'm very surprised that they are starting to run stories addressing this issue and they're starting to call judges out for repeatedly releasing violent offenders.

Judges are starting to see they are in peril politically when they release predators back to society. But we were dealing with the same issues 50 years ago. We were making progress but now we just seem doomed to repeat the same stupid mistakes.
