How was the co-witness when you ran the optic on the Echelon?Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled “Vortex Defender-ST Review — Red Dot Sight Test” and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/vortex-defender-st-review/.
Vortex Venom is a 2 MOA dot.Glad to see that this model shuts down after 10 minutes of inactivity. I have the Defender CCW and it is a decent optic but its shutdown time is 14 hrs! So if you used it for its intended purpose CCW for 8 hours a day it would effectively turn off for 2 hours each day, which is crazy. This is why mine sits on top of a range gun that comes out of the safe once a blue moon.
Totally tangent thought, but does anyone know why the smallest dot many manufacturers employ is 3 moa. Is it cost, technology, international convention, because most boomers can’t see a 2 moa dot? I actually find 3 moa a hair too big, but outside of Holosun and the DPP not many optics come smaller than 3 moa.
You ever use that laser on the range, during the daytime ?I guess that I am old school. I never gravitated to the Red Dots. I did take advantage of the picatinny rail to add Crimson Trace light/laser. To each their own.
I haven't graduated either, I'm more into 2.0 readers and open sightsYou ever use that laser on the range, during the daytime ?
Mine is old. I think it's 2. It's definitely smaller than all my Holosuns.

The newer ccw’s also have the 10min shutdown. I bought a second one when I noticed vortex had fixed this issue. I wish they would exchange the older 14hr ones for a new 10min model.Glad to see that this model shuts down after 10 minutes of inactivity.
