Want a threaded barrel in my 1911

I was told that you can’t just drop in a different barrel in my 1911 ( I ordered a suppressor) , and that I need a gunsmith to install and fit it properly. Is this true? Or someone spreading ignorance?
Would Springfield be able do this?
Any smith suggestions in Virginia?

1911 barrels usually require some type of fitting. Any decent smith can do it.
