well, that was certainly a surprise

SAINT
I had to go to my podiatrist Friday morning, for my regular diabetic foot check up.

then i told him, i am standing on concrete for like 2 hours, at least 2 maybe 3 times a week, and i am getting a mean pain in my left heel.

then i explained that i go to a couple of ranges, and maybe shifting my weight has caused me a problem, from my regular stance?

he asked where do i go

i mention the public range, and the private gun club.

he said that he "used" to be a member of the private club that i just started going to..!!

i was floored.

he stopped going only cuz he works mon-fri, and with family and such on his weekends, he could only get to the club, "maybe" 2 times a year, so he dropped going/being a member.

he did go on to say, that EVERYONE should be able to CCW (when i told him i got my permit)

wow.......i never woulda "thunk it"....

but it is true what the club XO said, "they got doctors, lawyers, business people as members".......

as well as us "regular people".......lol.

i was typing this up yesterday, but we are experiencing "brown out conditions", and my UPS (battery back up) shut me down for the day.

I think it does surprise many folks how many out there participate in our hobby.

The 2A appeals to a lot more people, than many would think.

Part of the problem now is that it's become fashionable to be "anti-gun," so a lot of people in various sectors of society are reticent to speak of their fondness for guns and/or shooting.

Dont be too surprised! I'm a lawyer, so is my cousin and two of my close friend, and my uncle is a dentist. We all have our carry permits and sizable armories.

benstt, I'm afraid not everyone gets such a positive reaction when they reveal their interest in firearms. In my area you're more likely to endure a similar type of reaction this young lady received after confiding to the guy in the overcoat that she was a gun collector who enjoyed going to the range:

And this gal only owned 1 pistol. Imagine the reaction when liberals find out one may own several dozen!

Oh, I don't always get a positive reaction. I has a woman walk out on a date over it. I just don't care. I'm an otherwise liberal who just does his thing, people's reactions be damned. Same with all the people I listed in my post.

Benstt: when u say ” I’m an otherwise liberal “ did u perhaps mean libertarian?
I’ve got a lot of libertarian in me myself… I do disagree with them on a few things such as border control and defense (I think both are too important to downgrade. Although the military needs to reign in some of its non-mil nuttiness and badly needs to reduce bureaucratic nonsense…another topic).

No, he's a self proclaimed, unashamed liberal. He's also pro 2A.

Nope. Like a liberal. I don't hold your views against you, though :)

My current doctor has several nurse practitioners working with him, one time he wasn't in so I saw one of the nurses instead, I had on my Xdm hat and she asked was I a shooter, told her yes, couldn't figure out where this was going to go, well, she then stated she is the co-owner of the new indoor shooting range that opened about a year ago, and that I should come up and give it a try, about fell over, who would guess something like this....lol

Yep. I dont hold with purity tests. A person can be both pro-2A and believe in climate change, all at the same time. I wish more of my side would do that.
My brother recently pulled the purity test on me. He used to go shooting and hunting me. I suggested he come out and get familiar with my .44 before we went into bear country. He said he has neither the need nor interest to ever touch a gun because they're only used for one thing. He completely changed his stance AND forgot that he used to use them for more than "one thing." Very irritating.
