Weren't we talking about low quality hardware in RDS? This is far worse!

Bolted joints and fasteners are "kind of my thing" and the garbage T10 screws in our RDS drive me nuts. That isn't unique to consumer stuff though, many $100K+ defense articles use 18-8 $hit fasteners because proper A286 ones cost $5/piece and there are sometimes 100s of these in an onboard avionics box for instance. But this beats everything I've seen since the Thiokol seals on Challenger, hundreds of low quality counterfeit parts in commercial jet engines!

well, i have faith in those parts, and that the next time i fly, i'll need to make sure my life insurance is paid up in full, and my Will made out, and my cemetery plot paid for....oh yeah, and that my guns and reloading room are all set up for disbursements to those in my Will.....

anyone interested...???

cuz i really have plans to fly......................NOT TO SOON...!!!!!!!

CFM56 engine; GE Aircraft Engines and Hispano Suiza. I have experience with the manufacture of parts for both companies as well as Pratt Whitney, Rolls Royce and Hamilton Sundstrand. The OEM's are extremely diligent in the specs for their engines. It is my experience that GE is practically fanatical about it. The problem comes in at the suppliers falsifying documents; QA needs to be very diligent about this with testing, vetting certifications etc. A huge issue comes in with maintenance and re-builders. They are not above looking on line for "equivalent" parts or "surplus" parts. I ran into it myself where a company I was at took an order for a small lot of a spare part assembly. They thought they could buy overrun small parts from a surplus supplier. It was pointed out that extreme certifications for materials and testing were required, supplier could not supply. They then tried to have the material testing done themselves and once the costs were realized got the order cancelled and ate the cost for what they had bought. My company was at least honest enough that they would rather eat some costs rather than send parts out that did not meet requirements. There are entities out there that I cannot say that about.

imma goona go to Kitty Hawk, and look up Wilber and Orville.

i heard they can get you there........anywhere.......in about 3 years time....

Go to Dayton, Ohio. Kitty Hawn was were they did some testing due to an abundance of hot air blowing. (Wind)

DAYTON is where they invented and developed their aircracft and based their operations.

years ago, i was in Dayton quite a few times for a trucking job i had based out of Medway...it was the GM account.....Dayton (AC-Delco), Kettering to name what i recall there, then many GM factories in MI.

i'd rather stay outta Dayton

Honestly, nothing will be done about this until a plane falls out of the sky with 3-400 passengers on board. Maybe even that won't be enough!

All info points to Gustav having controlled flight before the Wrighjt Bros. The only problem is that he dodn't document or promote it as well.

Old_Me: Dayton has some good things there but I would rather just pass thru too.
i used to go to an all you can eat buffet place...Duff's.....or Duffy's i think......not sure it was in Dayton however. maybe Fairborn, down the road from Medway maybe..???

i dunno, back in the early 1990's...

it was also found a "supplier" had emerged and was selling so called real parts. he even tricked all the aviation supply chains and put in fake imposter bolts, part, components via fake documents and tags. FAA is vastly unprepared to even try to monitor this
FBO and other are to verify the proof of parts and sadly the person checking is not an aviation based person so they just read the fake papers and have no idea the part is bogus.
bottom line check and only buy from good sources and PICK UP THE PHONE and verify if part looks odd
we ran into fake stuff finding its way into h60 parts OFTEN.. ??? yup OFTEN with fake sikorsky serial numbers and paperwork. talk about pucker factors.

You should see the amount of fake electronics components in some of the radar systems and other embedded electronics: little plastic cubes instead of actual electronics components, they even go as far as printing fake P/N on them! Of course, X-Ray catches it, but sometimes it's skipped and a few hundred blocks of plastic instead of capacitors are flying on our jets & helos!
