What do you think about Savage getting into the 1911 market?

I have no problem with them producing a 1911, they just need to make them affordable, if I can ask, what is wrong with Savage? I have had several of there rifles with no issues, did I miss something? I had one of there 17HMR, it was a tack driver. Honestly they can’t be as bad as Kimber…..or will they…..🤔🤔

Do we need one more maker? How would this pencil out for them? Maybe it's me, but I think that segment is kinda crowded.
Well regardless of the dispute of them being a quality manufacturer or not, we don't not need another manufacturer.
Let me explain. I think if you like them or not, that should be irrelevant. We as a 2A community should support each other. And as we live in a culture where our 2nd Amendment is under attack more than ever, and guns are being banned and so on. I think it's important to remember that we need these firearms manufacturers to implement new developments in their companies. The less firearm manufacturers there are, the more you will see a depleted sources of firearms. I know this is not talking about going out of business. But if Savage builds a 1911 and it happens to be crazy good then good on them. If they don't and it's entry level and fairly reliable, then some will still purchase. With many states banning "assault rifles" and any magazine that holds over 9 rounds, I would support support any manufacturer stepping into a different lineup. Personally I only own Springfield Armory 1911's. But support whatever anyone else wants to carry. I hope what I was trying to say made sense... 😂

I have no problem with Savage. I have two Savage rifles and have found them both to be very good rifles.

I would look at them, same as any other maker when the time to buy a 9mm 1911. Which I have been kicking around the idea of...

i might be a buyer, as i'd also like to have a Standard Mfg 1911 as well.

i just re-read the history of Savage, been in business since 1894..??

seems to me, many accept some specialty custom built 1911's from much newer companies, that i have been reading about, one up in VT, near the NY line area?

i can understand if someone had a firearm and had issues, would not ever want ANY firearm from same company. as i read the different companies, each and every one of them "had issues", most of recent the SA-35......ring a bell..????

yet people still buy SA products.

didn't Sig have some major issues too...???

i think over all, i'd trust a long standing company, over an upstart. sure, these from Savage will be production line built, so what?

the new Remington R1S, that i have on order is going for $1,090 retail, but a special introductory offer of $699.99 with an order now.

i will not downplay any upstart specialty custom builders, but then..what's their history, over Savage's 1894 start and the thousands of builds over the years..????

the more 1911's, hopefully the less a monopoly on pricing, shortages, all the other companies will have, that and customer service, warranty, etc.

Prices are reported to be in low to mid thousands. If you make a good product, they will come. Will it be enough to pay for the investment? I'm supportive of manufacturers, but I have to make choices due to finances. I'm not sure what Savage has done to make them any better than what is out there.

No issues from me. But that’s because the next 1911 I buy is going to be a TRP or Dan Wesson. Likely TRP, it’s been high on my list for a long time. But the p220 legion in 10 mm is up there as well.
Excellent choices. I love my TRP so much it's made it hard ever since I got it to spend money on another Government model. Every time I find one I think I want, I end up asking myself, "Yeah, but am I going to want to shoot it more than my TRP?" And the answer has always been no.

And you can never go wrong with a DW. Both of mine have been excellent.

same here as far as finances.

SS and a pension only go so far, as an insurance settlement, but like the Mrs knows, it's "our time/me time" to do what we want, since our kids are grown, out, and have families of thier own.

the "usual" bills come in each month, and the checking account survives somehow.

but, we have sacrificed many things, many times for others, and sometimes, me and the Mrs say.......(i cannot say what we say, i'd get banned...... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: )

Just like ARs everyone is making 1911s.

Have never had any problems with Savage products.

Another 1911 isn't on my list so it doesn't matter to me if there's another manufacturer out there.
