What ever happened to Red Dots on SA 1911s?

I cheered when the 10mm TRP was introduced a couple of years ago with a RMR already installed. My hope was that this feature or at least slides already cut for a red dot would trickle down to the less expensive models in Springfield's lineup of 1911s. I was waiting for that version of a RO, Loaded or TRP 1911 to rekindle my love of both the 1911 and .45 Auto but it never came. Having slides cut for a red dot can be expensive once they leave a mass or semi-custom production environment. Springfield's XD-M and XD-S and Hellcat pistols all have a optics ready or optics installed option.

Am thinking much of it is likely overall cost and marketability.
And, in some ways, welcome to the wonderful world of sight adapters and dovetail mounts?
Sliding into the rear sight dovetail, the dovetail sight adapters allow optical sights to be adapted to or onto non optically equipped or pre optical allowable firearms. In some ways the adapters can be better by not permanently altering firearms original configuration eliminating the desire or need to mill the slide or where ever else the optic is desired. Not everyone wants electronic optics on their firearms. Some people do while some people don't. The dovetail adapters can open up the options and choices for everyone in both directions.
